HONOLULU (KHON2) — Some say it was only a matter of time, others were shocked, and many were disheartened following Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race on Sunday.
"Biden caved into a lot of pressure. When I think people voting in November, they would have really thought about, 'Do I really want to live through another four years of Trump?'" asked Jude Mendoza. "I think he would have had more of a chance of winning in November than he would now."
Many Democrats said a unified front behind Vice President Kamala Harris is what the party needs to win in November.
"Kamala has obviously proven herself as a very strong woman, somebody who's on the right side of a lot of our party's most important issues," said Britny Ching.
The odds of Trump taking the presidential seat are now seemingly greater, according to voters who spoke with KHON2.
"Trump has a big upper hand. I'm a business owner and what he did for businesses with the tax breaks and corporations... hopefully he wins," said Abuzar Waleed.
If Kamala Harris were to win, it would be the second of historic "firsts" for the White House. She would be the first woman Vice President, and then first woman Commander in Chief.
