HONOLULU (KHON) - Ward Village is hosting a special event to honor its founding visionary, Victoria Ward.
The community is invited to a free, family-friendly celebration at Victoria Ward Park on Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to noon.
This event promises nature-based educational activities, live performances, and local flavors.
The celebration will feature a variety of engaging activities from local vendors, designed to educate and entertain attendees while paying tribute to Victoria Ward's legacy as a steward of the area.
Expect activities, such as:
Calligraphy Lessons with EV Calligraphy: Guests can learn the art of calligraphy from local expert Ellisa Vendiola, adding a personal touch to their handwritten notes and cards.
Planting Activity with Pono Minds: This activity offers a hands-on opportunity for participants to learn about planting and nurturing their own greenery, promoting environmental stewardship.
Lei-Making with Kīpuka by Nā Mea Hawaiʻi: Participants can create their own traditional Hawaiian lei, a beautiful and culturally significant craft.
The event also includes an interactive butterfly experience and a coloring station for children.
The Hawai‘i Audubon Society will host learning sessions about Hawai‘i’s seabirds, enhancing attendees' knowledge about local wildlife and conservation efforts.
Live music will fill the air, with performances by emerging artist Tiara Gomes and award-winning Hawaiian Slack Key musician Kawika Kahiapo.
Attendees can cool off with refreshing mango iced tea and strawberry lemonade from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, available while supplies last.
Each guest will also receive a ticket to visit the Foster Botanical Garden, extending the day's nature-themed experiences beyond the event.
