HAWAII NATIONAL PARK, Hawaii (KHON2) -- Chain of Craters Road in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park reopened to vehicles on Monday afternoon.
However, the Maunaulu parking lot and access road remain closed to vehicles due to last week's seismic activity. Bicyclists and pedestrians can still use the Maunaulu access road.
Drivers are urged to proceed cautiously on Chain of Craters Road, and motorcyclists should be particularly vigilant due to bumps and rough road conditions.
The roadway cracks formed after the magma intrusion in Kilauea volcano between July 22 and 25.
