Maui Humane Society, first responders collab for annual calendar contest fundraiser

PUʻUNENE, Hawaii (KHON2) -- Maui's firefighters and lifeguards have teamed up with the Maui Humane Society in MHS's annual calendar contest fundraiser to support the island's animals.

Starting today, supporters of the island's animals and rescuers are encouraged to vote for their favorite pet-hero photos to be featured in MHS's 2025 "Rescue Me" Calendar.

The calendar "will showcase heartwarming moments between Maui's pets" and members of the Hawaii Firefighters Association and Hawaii Government Employees Association.

Award-winning photographer Dana Edmunds held the photoshoots at various locations in West Maui.

The collective rescue efforts of Maui Humane Society’s staff and volunteers, along with the heroic actions of Maui’s firefighters and lifeguards, serves as a tribute to the unbreakable bond between animals and humans. Through this calendar fundraiser, we aim to highlight the bravery and resilience of our island, and showcase the importance of community solidarity during crises.

Owners can also reserve a day to honor their pet with a photo by donating $150 to benefit the Maui Humane Society.
