Nobody's perfect, but on Fridays, the University of Hawaii football team certainly tries to be.

In the final weekday of fall camp, the Rainbow Warriors hold compressed practices with the goal of executing at the highest level possible leading into Saturday, the day of the week where the Rainbow Warriors will compete 12 times in the fall.

“Perfect Friday for us, we don’t spend a lot of time on the field, but we do get our running up. We run full speed. It’s about an hour and 15 practice, special teams, offense, defense, individual. It’s game preparation," Hawaii head coach Timmy Chang told KHON2.com "We’re getting ready for the game. By that time, everything has to be perfect. It’s a short amount of time. It’s so crucial for them to put the final touches on a game plan and attack a day.

"For us, we’re already in our regular mode. It’s a camp-like schedule but the practices and the feel of what we’re doing and how we do things are already set in motion. It’ll be short but it’ll be very intricate and very detailed with them moving around at a high pace.”

The Rainbow Warriors have held two Perfect Fridays thus far and will have three more prior to their Aug. 24 season opener against Delaware State.

To players on the team, Perfect Fridays have ratcheted up the intensity of the practice sessions, adding urgency with the knowledge that gameday is quickly approaching.

“We’re pretty much just trying to be perfect, execute at the highest level and be ready for Saturdays. Just trying to get the plays down and just make the correct reads," receiver Koali Nishigaya said. “For the most part, it’s been good. We’re just trying to take the next step.”
