HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) has set Wednesday, August 7, as the new deadline for filing 2023 income tax returns and making payments for individuals and businesses impacted by the 2023 wildfires in Maui and Hawaii counties.
Affected residents can seek additional assistance through their website and update their addresses by contacting the IRS Disaster Hotline at 866-562-5227 or submitting Form 8822, Change of Address.
Relief is available for residents and businesses in the designated areas as per Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) guidelines.
For those needing more time, extension requests must be submitted by August 7, with the extended filing deadline set for October 15. However, payments are still required by the August 7 deadline.
