HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A unique new album from Mana Music Quartet featuring top Hawaii artists is making its debut tomorrow called 'Journey Through Hawaii'. Founders Joshua Nakazawa and Duane Padilla joined Wake Up 2Day Wednesday morning to detail the new album and give a preview of their music.
"Yes, the musicians of Mana Music Quartet—Duane Padilla and I—along with Eric Silberger and Mann-Wen Lo, are based in different parts of the country and are thrilled to have had another opportunity to record together following the release of our 'Queen Liliʻuokalani' album. On the new 'Journey Through Hawaiʻi' album we've collaborated with so many talented artists—Jake Shimabukuro, Raiatea Helm, Keilana Mokulehua, Jeff Peterson, Kelly Boy De Lima, Kalani Peʻa, Kalaʻe Camarillo, Kimié Miner and Hāwane Rios," Nakazawa said. "The album features eight original songs and will be available across major streaming platforms and online at www.manamusichawaii.com starting August 8."
The album development started just before the wildfires on Maui, which influenced some of the work that was created.
"Yes we started working on the album a little over a month before the wildfires, and a couple of the tracks reflect the emotions felt during that time, the artist's love for the community, and the desire for music to serve as a source of hope on the journey to recovery," Nakazawa said.
Mana Music Quartet is also holding a concert at the end of the month at Hawaii Theatre.
"The concert is going to be a wonderful event for the community showcasing many of the album's featured artists. We'll be at Hawaii Theatre in downtown Honolulu on August 29, with tickets on sale now on our website. We have tickets starting at $30, and we also have a VIP ticket option that includes a copy of the new CD and a post-show meet & greet opportunity with some of the artists. We hope everyone can come out to experience the concert and check out the album."
