Pearl City wildland fire 90% contained

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Residents report heavy smoke is filling the air on Lehua Avenue in Pearl City. The Honolulu Fire Department has been seen at the scene.

According to HFD, the fire is reported to be within a five-acre parcel behind the Hawaiian Electric power station, with no threats to its surrounding area.

No road closures have been put in place at this time, however access to the place is limited.

At 2:18 p.m., HFD reported an approximate worktime of five hours.

As of 4:24 p.m. on Saturday, the fire is 75 percent contained.

HFD will provide fire watch from 7 p.m. The fire is reported to be 90 percent contained at 6:50 p.m.
