Tupu Alualu's head coaching debut at Saint Louis almost got off to a historic start.
The Crusaders have not won a game against Kahuku since 2019, have not won a game on the North Shore since 1961. Additionally, a Saint Louis coach has not won his debut since John Hao in 2008.

All of that came close to being updated, but it was not to be, as three time defending state champion Kahuku narrowly defeated Saint Louis 14-13 on Saturday night at Carleton E Weimer Field.
The Crusaders led 13-0 at halftime, but touchdowns by Halahuni Langi and Noah Ah You gave Kahuku the lead for good. A 42-yard field goal attempt from Makani Markle-Kane was no good as time expired.
