HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) will commence repaving works on Queen Street at 8 p.m. on Monday.
During the resurfacing, single lane closures will be in effect on Queen Street between Cooke Street and Kamakeʻe Street.
The project is to enhance pavement conditions, update vehicle markings and signages, and improve space for pedestrians and cyclists.
According to HDOT, the repaving will proceed in phases: The first phase will address Queen Street between Cooke Street and Ward Avenue at 8 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday, with a similar schedule continuing Tuesday night. The following phase will cover the street between Ward Avenue and Kamakeʻe Street, starting Wednesday at 8 p.m. and ending Thursday at 4 a.m., with the same schedule applying for Thursday night.
The entire resurfacing project is anticipated to be completed by 4 a.m. on August 16, Statehood Day, Friday.
