HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Maui Fire Department (MPD) continues to battle a brushfire in Wailuku, Maui as of 3 p.m., Tuesday.
According to MPD, efforts are ongoing to manage the situation, including controlling traffic and facilitating voluntary evacuations.
The fire is located in the areas Iao Stream and Haleki'i Pihana Heiau.
MPD is urging residents to avoid the area to allow officials to work safely.
Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is advising those in Wailuku to prepare for possible evacuation.

The brushfire is 100 percent contained, according to MFD.
No evacuations necessary.
Residents are still advised to avoid the area.
