HONOLULU (KHON2) -- It's opening day of the WSL Pro Qualifying Series and the surf God's have spoken.
While the current run of south swells have kept lifeguards busy, it's amped up Hawaii's surfers in anticipation for the ride of their lives.
Over the weekend, hundreds of Hawaii's best surfers and supporters spent the weekend at Magic Island for the Local Motion Surf Into Summer contest
"It's been pretty good. You can see the waves, they're firing," said Kori Nagata, Local Motion social media coordinator. "And it's been pretty epic and we're pretty stoked with the turnout and just the waves coming in."
The men's qualifying began Monday morning at 8 a.m. and will be followed by the women's and longboarding competition throughout the week.
"Expect good waves, good surfing and amazing athletes," added Nagata.
