HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Antitrust regulators have once again extended their review of Alaska Airlines’ proposed acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines.
The companies have agreed to push the review period with the Department of Justice (DOJ) to 6:01 p.m. Hawaii time on Monday.
The extension comes after the review was initially set to end tomorrow, following a prior extension from today’s original deadline.
Review periods allow regulators time to assess the potential impacts of the merger.
Earlier this week, a DOJ attorney filed a notice in federal court in Honolulu indicating plans to appear in the state.
Neither the DOJ nor the airlines have commented on this court filing.
