HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Gentle trade winds will become breezy on Friday and continue through most of next week. Expect shower coverage as moisture moves across the state from east to west. Showers will mainly hit windward and mauka areas, with some reaching leeward spots, especially overnight and early morning.
The remnants of former Tropical Cyclone Emilia are bringing enhanced moisture and showers across the state. Moisture levels are high, allowing for taller clouds and more showers, mostly affecting windward areas and occasionally leeward areas overnight and into Friday morning as another cloud band moves in.
On Friday, a broad low will move west of the state, letting breezy trade winds return thanks to a strong high-pressure system far to the north. Shower coverage should return to a normal pattern through Saturday as the extra moisture moves away. Clouds and showers will still focus on windward and mauka regions, with some spilling over to leeward areas. From Sunday to Tuesday, another area of enhanced tropical moisture will move across the state from east to west, potentially increasing showers, especially in the eastern half of the state.
