The Central East Maui Little League team improved to 2-0 at the Little League World Series with a 5-0 win over Hillsdale Little League on Friday.
CEM advances to face Paseo Verde Little League of Henderson, Nevada in the winner's bracket on Monday at 9 a.m. HST on ESPN.

Evan Tavares took the mound for Central East Maui and was his masterful self, going 5.1 innings, allowing just two hits and a walk with nine strikeouts.
Tavares was removed after throwing 65 pitches, allowing him to come back on Tuesday. Kellen Takamura recorded the final two outs on the mound.
Central East Maui mustered just three hits as a team, with two of them coming from catcher Matthew Yang. CEM drew four walks from Illinois starter Dillon Phelan, who was tagged with the loss.
A win for Central East Maui on Monday would put them into the United States semifinals.
