HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A four vehicle crash Sunday morning in Nanakuli, involving five people and sending one to the hospital in critical condition.
According to reports, a 25-year-old male motorist was traveling eastbound on Farrington Highway when he collided with an 18-year-old male motorist who was stopped at the traffic light waiting to make a left turn.
The collision caused the 25-year-old male motorist to spin out and collide into a separate vehicle driven by a 70-year-old male motorist.
Also within the vehicle was a 56-year-old female passenger.
The collision also caused the vehicle driven by the 18-year-old motorist to be pushed forward into on-coming traffic where it collided with another separate vehicle that was driven by a 52-year-old female motorist.
Within that vehicle was a 56-year-old male passenger.
The crash resulted in the 25-year-old male being transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said the 25-year-old male motorist was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision.
The 18-year-old male motorist suffered minor injuries and remained on scene.
The 70-year-old male motorist and his 56-year-old female passenger were not injured and remined on scene.
The 52-year-old female motorist and her 56-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision.
According to police, speed may have been a factor in the crash, but it remains unknown if alcohol or drugs were a contributing factor.
The investigation remains ongoing.
