HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Pokémon World Championships came to a close Sunday, where over 3,000 competitors from across the world vied for the title of Pokémon World Champion.
Attendees including spectators and public audiences enjoyed a variety of free activities throughout the world championships. Events were held at the Hawaii Convention Center and Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki.
"Oh, I had fun," Antoine Brugnoli-Batten said, he is one of the competitors. "We did have to queue up the queued a lot and it was really fun to play lots of games,"
Since 1996, the Pokémon franchise has expanded to four types of games -- trading cards, video games, Pokémon GO and Pokémon Unite.
"You can grow up with your children playing it and then their kids can grow up playing it and it's something you can share your family," Maryland resident Poom Natrakul said.
