HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred on a city bus earlier this month.
On August 9, at around 3:34 p.m., a 16-year-old male victim was riding TheBus when two men on a moped approached.
One of the men, identified as Suspect 1, a 19-year-old male, got off the moped, pointed a firearm at the victim, and fired a single shot before fleeing with the help of Suspect 2, who was driving the moped.
The suspects were last seen heading west on North School Street.
The victim, who was shot, was taken to a nearby hospital, treated, and later released.
Following an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division’s Strategic Enforcement Detail (SED), which included reviewing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and analyzing surveillance footage, the police identified the suspect.
On August 23, just after 11:30 a.m., authorities located and arrested Suspect 1.
He faces charges of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Place to Keep, and Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Separate Felony.
Suspect 1 is now charged with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, Place to Keep, Carry/Use of a Firearm in a Separate Felony, and Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm. Bail has been set at $1,000,000.
The case has been referred to the Department of Prosecuting Attorney.
