HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The deadline is approaching. Candidates have until tomorrow to submit their nomination papers for Hawaii's primary election.
Various key positions are up for election this year, including Honolulu and Hawaii County mayoral seats, prosecuting attorneys for Hawaii, Kauai, and Oahu counties, as well as U.S. Senate and two seats in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Incumbents such as Honolulu Mayor Rick Blangiardi and the prosecuting attorneys for Honolulu, Kauai, and Hawaii Island have already filed for re-election, with no challengers yet emerging against them.
Additionally, Clayton Hee (D) is considering a return to the state capitol, pulling papers for a potential run at the Kaneohe-to-North Shore District 23 seat currently held by Brenton Awa (R), who intends to file for re-election tomorrow.
Mark your calendars for the primary election on Saturday, Aug. 10.
