Officers responded to the incident on Aug. 23 just before 5 p.m. when an unknown disturbance was reported near King Kamehameha Blvd and Aloha Blvd in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Subdivision.

Reports said one caller reported "that a male party was in the area attempting to break up dogs that were fighting" to dispatch. In a separate phone call, dispatch was told a male party was abusing his dogs.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a deceased medium, black-colored dog lying in the middle of the roadway with several puncture wounds on the right side of its body.

A witness recalled the same male party to be kicking the dog right before the body was found.

The 64-year-old suspect was found one block away from the scene, hands covered in blood, a knife with blood on the blade and a marijuana smoking pipe in his possession.

Officials said the man acknowledged that the dog that was found belonged to him.
