HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Currently showers and thunderstorms are forming in a band north of the remnants of Hurricane Gilma. Clouds and rain will spread from east to west across the state through Friday night. Additionally, a weak disturbance from the remnants of Hector is moving in, bringing more showers from Saturday night into Sunday. Isolated thunderstorms are possible on the northern slopes of Molokai, Maui, and the Big Island.

The wind forecast hints to a mix of light to moderate trade winds and sea breezes through Sunday. Trade winds will pick up to moderate or breezy levels once Hector’s remnants pass and high pressure returns. Winds will be lighter and more variable on Friday, with sea breezes becoming more common. Expect clouds and showers across the islands, affecting both windward and leeward areas. Conditions could feel very muggy.

Next week, conditions will stabilize as the remnants of Gilma and Hector move out and high pressure builds back in. Brief showers will continue, mostly affecting windward and mountain areas, primarily during the overnight and early morning hours.
