HONOLULU (KHON2) -- One of Hawaii's most popular events, Comic Con Honolulu, makes its return to the Hawaii convention center next weekend, where guests are invited to dress up as their favorite characters and enjoy three days of special guests, vendors, and activities. There will even be a cosplay competition. Event administrator Angel Rumbaoa stopped by Wake Up 2Day Friday morning to share details.
"Comic Con Honolulu is a dynamic three-day, multi-genre convention that celebrates American comics, movies, pop culture, and so much more!" Rumbaoa said. "We bring together an incredible array of artists, vendors, actors, voice actors, comic book creators, and writers, all under one roof. Fans can enjoy thrilling events like cosplay contests, fan panels, and exclusive meet-and-greets with our special guests. Plus, there's non-stop action with video gaming tournaments featuring popular titles like Super Smash Bros and League of Legends, and exciting tabletop gaming events. It's the ultimate experience for fans to immerse themselves in a world of entertainment, creativity, and community.
The list of special guests includes many prominent figures in the community.
"We're thrilled to announce an exciting lineup of guests at this year's event! Joining us are actors from the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Gordon Cormier, and Dallas Liu, as well as Henry Ian Cusick from the iconic series LOST. We'll also have Kathleen Herles, the voice behind Dora in Dora the Explorer, and the incredible Troy Baker, known for his role as Joel in The Last of Us. From the world of X-Men '97, we welcome George Buza and Jennifer Hale, the voices of Beast and Jean Grey. Comic book fans will be excited to see Gail Simone, a renowned writer for Marvel" Rumbaoa said. "Comics including Uncanny X-Men, along with legendary artists like Jose Luis Garcia Lopez from DC Comics, and Reilly Brown, known for his work on Deadpool titles.
