HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Do you think you can accurately guess when the first koholā will be spotted in Maui Nui waters this year?
The Pacific Whale Foundation is holding a free contest to celebrate the upcoming humpback whale season in Hawaii.
The participant who guesses the closest date and time with published photo evidence by boat, land or air will win the grand prize.
Officials said the winner will receive a free PacWhale Eco-Adventures ecotour for two people, PWF membership and a swag bag.
In recent years, the first humpback whales have been spotted between mid-September and late-October.
Participants must complete the following steps to submit their guess:
- Follow Pacific Whale Foundation and PacWhale Eco-Adventures on Facebook and Instagram
- Make your guess on the contest post
- Tag two friends
Those who don't have social media can sign up online through the Pacific Whale Foundation's website.
