HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A 17-year-old who was arrested in connection to a shooting at Ohikilolo Ranch in February has been charged as an adult.
On Feb. 17, HPD was sent on a weapons call to Ohikilolo Ranch in the Makaha area, where a shooting occurred after an argument between the victim and a group of males.
"A witness reported the 39-year-old victim had been arguing with hunters about the hunter's dog attacking the victim's steer," revealed HPD's Lt. Deena Thoemmes at the time. "The argument escalated when one of the hunters shot the victim. The hunters then fled on foot towards Farrington Highway."
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 17-year-old was identified through the course of the investigation and was arrested on Feb. 18.
Two days later the teen was charged with murder in the second degree, firearms charges and terroristic threatening.
The suspectʻs attorney told KHON2 at the time that he had received a waiver from the prosecutorʻs office seeking to charge the teen as an adult.
The case was transferred from family court to circuit court on Sept. 17.
The teenʻs bail was set at $1 million.
