HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Approximately 160 high school students from eight public schools on Maui and Oahu will gather Friday for the second annual Dive Into Education event.
The initiative, organized by students, aims to inspire peers to pursue careers in education and address Hawaii's ongoing teacher shortage.
The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the T Building at Leeward Community College.
Participants will receive guidance from current education students and information about local college and university teaching programs.
Notable attendees include Tammy Yoon, a teacher at Pearl City High School, and Osa Tui, president of the Hawaii State Teachers Association.
This gathering seeks to motivate students to consider careers in teaching and provide them with the resources needed to succeed in their educational aspirations.
