HALIIMALIE, Hawaii (KHON2) -- Maui fire officials are investigating the cause of a structure fire in Haliimalie that left four people displaced.
First responders were notified about the incident around 12:40 p.m. on Sunday.
According to MFD, firefighters arrived at the scene to find flames engulfing an enclosed garage with the fire spreading to the home next door.
Firefighters were able to extend the hose lines to suppress the fire.
The flames were deemed under control around 1:03 p.m. before it was fully extinguished shortly before 4 p.m.
Firefighters searched the home and confirmed no one was inside. One family pet was removed safely.
Officials said the fire caused about $55,000 in damage to both structures.
All four residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross. No injuries have been reported.
