HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Department of Law Enforcement has launched a new "Gun Tip Line" to help protect neighborhoods.
According to DLE Director Jordan Lowe, the line will allow community members to assist law enforcement by making anonymous reports of illegal gun ownership and gun crimes.
When making a tip, the public is advised to leave detailed information such as names, locations and the gun's description.
Those who are leaving the tip can also leave their name and phone number if they would like to be contacted.
Tipsters may also remain anonymous as all tips are confidential.
Guns that have been stolen, guns that haven’t been registered and guns in the wrong hands are often used to commit crimes. The consequences can be tragic. So, if you see something, send

- Submit a tip through the Department of Law Enforcement's website
- Submit photos and videos with your tip through the Saferwatch app
The public is still advised to call 911 in the event of an emergency situation that needs immediate assistance.
