HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH) is conducting retests at Richardson Ocean Center after detecting a concerning level of 591 per 100 mL during routine beach monitoring.
The department is unsure about the reliability of the initial sample, prompting further investigation.
Historically, this beach has consistently met acceptable water quality thresholds, and there are no known sources of fecal contamination in the area.
As a precaution, the DOH has collected a new sample for analysis.
Officials will provide updates on the situation based on the results of the retesting.
