This outage affects a smaller area of downtown Honolulu compared to the outage that happened on June 13, according to HECO.

HECO stated that recurring outages occur due to their outdated equipment.

They are planning to upgrade equipment at Iwilei station by July and replace all outdated cables over the next few years.

The City and County of Honolulu's Department of Transportation Services (DTS) is informing motorists and pedestrians that all out-of-service signalized intersections are all-way stops.

HPD officers will be at major intersections to ensure safety. Intersections across downtown are also out of service.

Crews aim to restore power to most areas by early to mid-afternoon.
