HPD said the report came in around 11:20 a.m. when the 26-year-old suspect was seen armed with a gun in the parking lot of Nanakuli Longs.

"As I looked left, I just seen this guy with a ski mask and gun drawn out diving and running in between cars turning to them, trying to hijack them," said Kainoa, a witness. "And he went to at least two or three cars, never got in. They just high-tailed out of there and the car that was coming straight onto him looked like a Mustang rental car and they were stopped and he came up to the side of them and gave two or three good punches and had the gun, held them at gunpoint right there at their window."

The suspect stole the victim's vehicle and traveled through Ewa Beach before heading onto the H-3 Freeway.

According to police, he then traveled onto Likelike Highway and Kahekili Highway, where he crashed into another vehicle near Windward Community College.

After the crash, the suspect abandoned the stolen vehicle and attempted to break into two other occupied nearby vehicles.

The suspect was arrested for "first-degree robbery, two counts of attempted first-degree robbery, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and criminal property damage."

Reports said an officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries but no other injuries were reported.

Charges are currently pending.
