It's a fun, foodie event that is coming up to celebrate Hawaii's Korean heritage with proceeds going to build a much-needed cultural center in Hawaii.
It's the 8th Annual Taste of Korea!
Wake Up 2Day got the details from Amanda Chang, President of the Hawaii Korean Cultural Center to learn how this big event will help to fund a Korean Cultural Center which currently does not exist in Hawaii.
Over 20 local Korean food spots will be participating at this year's event, which will take place on the 5th floor of the Japanese Cultural Center on Beretania Street.
Among the vendors will be:
- Paris Baguette, who showcased their Mini Strawberry Lemon Croissants and Fruit bites (with fresh blueberry, raspberry and kiwi/blackberry on top), which will be served along with their seasonal cakes such as Thanksgiving cakes.
- Waba Snacks showcased their signature Boong-uh-ppang (Taiyaki) which is a fish shaped waffle with various fillings – red bean, Nutella, vanilla crème or plain.
- Waipuna Sushi in Manoa showcased their special Dynamite sushi roll (shrimp tempura cucumber maki roll sushi with spicy ahi tartar with special dynamite sauce).
- Hangang Grill House, who showcased their ono chopchae, Korean Glass Noodles; their restaurant is on the corner of Piikoi and Waimanu, across the street from from our KHON2 studio.
Tickets for Thursday's event are available now on the Hawaii Korean Cultural Center's website.
