HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Honolulu Fire Department and Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded to an injured man at "Spitting Caves" in Hawaii Kai.
The call came in around 6:30 p.m. when it was reported that a 23-year-old man was injured at the popular sightseeing location.
According to EMS, the man jumped "off Spitting Caves when he hit the rocks before hitting the water."
HFD arrived on the scene at 6:38 p.m. to find the man on the rocks near the water with injuries. Reports said the first unit established command and descended the trail to the water's edge.
Upon reaching the injured man, HFD personnel administered basic life support before safely airlifting him to the landing zone at Koko Head Elementary School for care to be transferred to EMS at 7:12 p.m.
EMS said he was treated for multiple serious injuries on his back and arms and was assessed for a possible head injury.
He was transported to an emergency room in serious condition.
