After 18 months of construction, the $33 million project features "studio, one- and two-bedroom rentals for households earning up to 30 to 50% of the area median income."

According to officials, rent and utilities will range from $731 for a studio to $1,566 for a two-bedroom.

As we continue our efforts to clean up and renew this historic district, projects like this are crucial. They bring new energy and opportunity to Chinatown while preserving its unique character, making it a welcoming place for all. We’re very proud to partner in this endeavor and remain committed to creating safe, vibrant communities where people can live, work, and play.

Residents will also be able to enjoy features such as a central courtyard, community meeting room, exercise facility, bike storage, laundry room and computer lab.

Health and wellness and employment support will also be provided to residents below the 30% AMI level from the Institute for Human Services.

“The partners of the newly repurposed Hocking Building did a great job blending creativity with practicality in carving out critically needed affordable rental units from this historic, but underutilized building," expressed Governor Josh Green.

Applications are still being accepted and the first residents are expected to move in within a few weeks.
