Surfers Koa Rothman, Eli Olson, Jamie O'Brien, Sally Cohen and others surfed for several hours with kids from across Oahu battling CF, a disease that impacts the lungs.

The Mauli Ola Foundation has been touring across the country for years, visiting kids at hospitals and taking others out to surf for salt water therapy.

"What we do is introduce surfing as a natural therapy for cystic fibrosis," explained Mauli Ola Foundation executive director Hans Hagen. "It's a pulmonary disease and a digestive disease, and it's proven to be a natural therapy."

"Surfing is also a spiritual activity and it's a pleasant distraction and just something to get their minds off of the hard regimen they have with their health," he added.

The event took place at Jamie O'Brien's Surf School located at Turtle Bay on Oahu's North Shore with food donated from Pupukea Grill.
