HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A hiker in her 50s was rescued on the Maili Pillbox Trail Thursday morning after suffering an injury that left her unable to descend the trail on her own.
The Honolulu Fire Department (HFD) received a 911 call at 9:35 a.m. and dispatched seven units with 17 personnel to the scene.
The first responders arrived at 9:45 a.m. and sent personnel up the trail on foot.
Upon reaching the hiker at 10:01 a.m., fire crews conducted a medical assessment and provided basic life support.
To facilitate the rescue, Air 1 was deployed to transport rescue personnel to the site, where they prepared the injured woman for an airlift.
At 10:15 a.m., the hiker was flown to a nearby landing zone, where she was transferred to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) for further care.
All HFD personnel involved in the operation were safely accounted for with no reported injuries.
