HONOLULU (KHON2) -- On Saturday, June 15, an unknown male suspect used a knife to threaten to kill a male security guard in the Ward/ Ala Moana area, according to Honolulu Police Department.
The threatened male was able to run away from the suspect unharmed, but the suspect also fled the scene of the crime and was able to get away.
Police categorized the incident as Terroristic Threatening in the first degree.
HPD described the suspect as being in his 20s or 30s, 5'5"-10", with brown eyes, hair and beard.
He was also described wearing a blue long-sleeve top with a Nan Inc. logo and blue pants with white stripes.
Later that night at approximately 9:55 p.m. witnesses reported an altercation between a 32-year-old male with an unknown male.
The victim was stabbed in the chest and taken to the hospital in critical condition.
A knife and backpack were recovered at the scene.
Officers said the suspect from the later stabbing incident matched the description of the suspect in the earlier Terroristic Threatening.
The stabbing was classified as Attempted Murder in the second degree.
Video surveillance revealed the suspect was trying to rob the victim and it's what led to the physical altercation that ended in the stabbing of the victim.
The suspect was identified and arrested by HPD officers Wednesday for both incidents.
The victim of the attempted murder remains in critical condition at the hospital.
