HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Despite all the turmoil happening in Downtown Chinatown for many business owners, Don Murphy of Murphy's Bar and Grill is choosing to spread aloha still.
Rather than focusing on his losses, he's giving back to the community, cooking up food for the HECO crews and police officers working relentlessly to get the power back on and the chaos turned off.
"I got nothing to do so I'm making up sliders and chicken wings and passing them out to the HECO guys and police men that are working," said Murphy.
He knows his business will suffer due to the outages, but recognizes the crews and officers are just trying to do their part to get it fixed.
"It hurts," Murphy continued. "We're gonna lose at least two days of sales, maybe three. So it's not good but it is what it is. It's not these guys' fault. They're working their butts off trying to get this thing going."
In order to attempt to minimize his losses, he is using generators to try to prevent his products from going bad.
