HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Hawai'i Police Department initiated an investigation of a possible shark attack at Anaeho‘omalu Bay in Waikoloa on Monday at around 5:30 p.m.
A 20-year-old male visitor from Romania was reported to have found lacerations on the top and bottom of his foot and was bleeding profusely.
According to medical personnel, the injuries were consistent with a shark bite.
The victim and two others claimed that they did not see any shark in the water.
Hawai‘i Fire Department medics transported the man to the Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital.
At present, there are no plans made to shut down Anaeho‘omalu Bay.
