HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Hawaii Sheriffs Department is facing scrutiny after several deputies were arrested in the span of a week but the Department of Law Enforcement maintains that the arrests are isolated incidents.
KHON2 is told there are three different on-going investigations, with two of them involving internal violations.
Two deputies assigned to the State Capitol were arrested one week apart for allegations of racial harassment. One deputy was apparently arrested at the airport Wednesday in a separate case and the DLE said more arrests are likely.
In total, eight deputies are under investigation for similar allegations, according to the DLE.
The cases will go to the Attorney Generalʻs office for adjudication before going for administrative review.
The deputies involved are on leave without pay and have had their enforcement powers taken away.
