Dole Food Company partnered with Blood Bank of Hawaii to celebrate National Pineapple Day.
To encourage the bolstering of the local blood supply, Dole is encouraging the community to make an appointment to donate blood. In return, donors will receive a delicious Dole Royal Hawaiian Pineapple, while supplies last.
Dole Food Company distributes pineapples across the islands and the continental US. national Pineapple Day is held to recognize this fruit, often referred to as "The Fruit of Kings."
The exotic tropical fruit, indigenous to South and Central America, has been cultivated for centuries and commercially in the US since James Dole first introduced it in Hawaii in 1901.
Today, Dole Food Company, with facilities in Wahiawa, Oahu, is on a mission to make the world a healthier place.
The Blood Bank of Hawaii urgently needs community support. While all blood types are welcome, there is a critical need for O-type and platelet donations to meet the daily needs of local hospitals and patients.
During the summer months, blood donations drop by 15%, impacting local hospitals.
