PEARL CITY, Hawaii (KHON2) -- A quiet afternoon turned chaotic as a vehicle careened through the storefront of Paradise Poke in Pearl City on Thursday at about 2 p.m.
The incident startled customers and staff at the newly established eatery, which opened its doors six months ago.
Iliana, who was at a nearby Starbucks, said, "I heard the revving of an engine, it was really loud. I thought the guy was going to take the parking spot right ahead, but the car just flew in, just flew right in."
She described the driver as an elderly man.
Madison Burnett, the store manager of Paradise Poke Pearl City, expressed gratitude that no injuries were reported.
"Support is probably what we'll need after an accident like this, especially because we're fairly new," she said.
Despite the damage, she remains optimistic about reopening.
"We're planning to clean up and hope to open by tomorrow, or at the very least, by the weekend," Burnett said.
