HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The high pressure system north of the islands, which supports our trade winds, will weaken slightly over the weekend but strengthen again early next week. Starting Friday, an area with increased showers is expected to move in over the state, causing rainy conditions especially on windward sides through the morning. A low pressure system will approach the islands starting Friday, passing north of Kauai on Saturday and Sunday. Its close proximity may lead to more clouds and showers over the weekend, primarily on windward and mauka. As the low moves away to the north early next week, a strong high will trigger stornger trades.
