DVAC expands board to support domestic violence survivors

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Domestic Violence Action Center (DVAC) is a special nonprofit organization that helps people in Hawaii who have experienced domestic violence. DVAC has announced three new members joining its board of directors.

This means these new members will help make important decisions for the organization.

Meet the new members:

  • Lindsay Chambers: Lindsay works as the Vice President and Public Relations Manager at First Hawaiian Bank. She used to manage communications for the Hawaiʻi Department of Education. She has also worked in public relations and holds degrees in business and English from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
  • Trici Fetui: Trici is the Vice President of Events and Business Development and the Executive Director of the Young Professionals Program at the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii. She has worked with organizations like the Boy Scouts and the March of Dimes. She was also honored in 2023 by Pacific Business News as one of the “Women Who Mean Business.”
  • Matthew Hunter: Matthew is the Senior Vice President and Director of Talent Management & Development at Central Pacific Bank. He has over 20 years of experience in human resources and has worked in both Hawaii and on the mainland. He has degrees in sociology, criminology, and organizational communication from the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa. He plans to start his PhD in 2025.

DVAC was started in 1991 and is the only agency in Hawaii that focuses 100% on helping survivors of domestic violence. They provide programs that respect different cultures and aim to help survivors become self-sufficient and improve their quality of life.

In Hawaii, domestic violence is a serious problem. According to recent statistics, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men experience physical violence from a partner in their lifetime. DVAC works hard to support these individuals and their families, offering hope and healing to those who need it most.

With the addition of these new board members, DVAC is excited to continue its important work helping survivors of domestic violence.
