For the second straight year, a group of NFL players, led by Houston Texans cornerback Derek Stingley Jr., held another Cover 1 Elite Camp summit on Oahu.

In 2023, the camp was held at Saint Louis. On Friday, it was held at the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex at the University of Hawaii, where Rainbow Warriors standout cornerback Cam Stone earned valuable experience.

"You get to soak up all this knowledge from guys that's been there, done that, and they're still doing it to this day. So, this is huge," Stone told KHON2 sports director Rob DeMello. "I'm grateful just going out here, just seeing where I'm at in terms of where the NFL guys are. It'd be big for me to just look on and then just see where I'm at, what things I need to work on and stuff like that.

"I think that falls along the maturity level. You know, you can always grow. There's always room for improvement on that aspect, but really I get to see how these guys move and I can absorb all of it and go from there."

Sixteen NFL defensive backs and linebackers were working out at Ching on Friday, giving Stone invaluable experience and a gauge to see where he stacks up.

"I think is huge," Cover 1 host and trainer Derek Stingley Sr. said of Stone's day. "He gets to rub elbows with guys who he can see on Sundays. He can probably have some conversation with those guys or what it took to get to where he is or where they are at the moment. And then he could probably take some good ideas from them that he probably never thought about doing or using or saying to be part of his game where we can really help them improve whatever he needs to improve on to get to the next level."
