HONOLULU (KHON2) -- With summer break in full swing, the Hawaii Police Department has intensified efforts to enforce underage drinking laws, curfews, and park regulations across several units.

The initiative seeks to maintain secure environments at beaches and parks frequented by the community.
Under the enhanced enforcement, teams will conduct regular patrols and issue citations for violations of liquor laws, particularly targeting underage drinking and illegal public consumption.
According to HPD data, there have been notable changes in underage drinking arrests on Hawaii Island.
In the first half of 2024, five individuals were arrested for underage drinking, marking a decrease from 13 arrests during the same period in 2023 and 16 in 2022.
