Over 90 employers expected at WorkHawaii hiring event

HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Department of Community Services’ WorkHawaii Division will host a free Hiring Event on Saturday, July 13, at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, providing a platform for job seekers to connect with over 90 participating employers from government offices, for-profit businesses, and non-profit organizations.

The event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., aims to facilitate employment opportunities across various sectors.

WorkHawaii will offer a Resource Center onsite equipped with laptops and printers, enabling attendees to complete digital job applications and refine resumes for prospective employers.

Admission is free for both job seekers and employers, with public parking available at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center for $8.

Alongside job opportunities, the event will feature free workshops focused on digital literacy, hosted by the Waipahu Community School for Adults on the mauka side of the Exhibition Hall.

Additionally, informational sessions will highlight the State of Hawaii Department of Labor & Industrial Relations’ QUEST Paid Internship program, catering to adults, students, seniors, and veterans.

Resource Workshop Schedule:

  • 9:30 a.m. - 10 a.m.: Computer Basics
  • 10 a.m. - 10:45 a.m.: QUEST Internship Program Info Session
  • 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: Internet Basics, Safety, and Security
  • 12 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.: QUEST Internship Program Info Session
  • 1 p.m. - 2 p.m.: Drop-In Support: Explore digital literacy topics of interest

“We're not just connecting job seekers with opportunities; we're empowering them with skills for a brighter future,” said WorkHawaii Administrator Leinaʻala Nakamura. “Additionally, we'll be implementing two informational sessions on the QUEST internships, demonstrating how they can serve as a stepping stone towards securing meaningful employment.”
