HONOLULU (KHON2) -- A high pressure ridge remains north of Kauai, maintaining light winds across the state. A band of high clouds over the central islands is moving south. Radar and rain gauge show very dry conditions across the state. Clouds should clear overnight as land breezes develop, with limited chances of showers.
Over the weekend, the high will lift northward, allowing the trades to gradually return from south to north. Breezy conditions are expected by Sunday and will persist into the middle of next week. Clouds and showers will return to the typical windward and mauka areas, but overall shower activity will remain limited due to stable conditions. Slightly increasing trade wind showers will ramp up on Monday and Tuesday, but conditions will still be drier than normal for this time of year. A more typical trade wind pattern is expected to return in the middle to latter half of the week.
