Crews on the Waianae coast marked a significant milestone on Monday.
Workers and volunteers with Elepaio Social Services unloaded pallets of food at its distribution center Monday morning. The delivery was the group's 10-millionth pound of food given out since the group was created in November 2020 during the COVID pandemic.
In its first year, Elepaio Social Services said it passed out a million pounds of food. ESS is a subsidiary of the Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center.
According to a study by the Hawaii Foodbank, one in three households in Hawaii still struggles with food.
