HONOLULU (KHON2) -- The Big Island Substance Abuse Council (BISAC) is excited to host its 10th annual Summer Jam Event.
This free, family-friendly event offers a day of fun, food, and community spirit, celebrating a decade of recovery, support and hope.
The event features ono food from local vendors, a health fair with wellness resources, and interactive games for keiki.
There will also be thrilling competitions like the Truck Pull and Strongman/Strongwoman Weightlifting Contest. BISAC's CEO, Dr. Hannah Preston-Pita, expressed gratitude to the vendors, volunteers, community organizations and BISAC staff for making this event possible.
“We are incredibly grateful to our vendors, volunteers, community organizations, and the dedicated staff of BISAC for making our 10th annual Summer Jam possible,” said Dr. Hannah Preston-Pita, Chief Executive Officer of BISAC.
She emphasized the importance of the event in supporting the community's most vulnerable members and fostering hope and recovery.
“Their support and hard work enable us to continue our mission of helping our most vulnerable neighbors," added Preston-Pita. "We look forward to seeing hundreds, and hopefully, thousands, of community members come together this Saturday to support recovery and hope.”
Event coordinator Sasha Payao highlighted the inclusive and exciting nature of the Summer Jam, noting that it brings together people from all walks of life to celebrate the BISAC community.
The event will be hosted by the hilarious and engaging Mike Garcia and will be taking place on Saturday, July 27 at the Hilo Afook Chinen Civic Auditorium from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
