HONOLULU (KHON2) -- Some Waianae residents began their Sunday morning with the sounds of fire units instead of rooster crows as crews rushed to a residential building fire at 5:10 a.m.
Upon arrival Honolulu Fire Department units reported flames could be seen in the center of the second floor of a newly-constructed two-story family home.
Fire fighters got to work to put out the flames and were able to confirm no occupants inside the home during their search.
The fire was reportedly brought under control at 5:16 a.m. and fully extinguished at 5:59 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigaton.
